The Transition Zone in pickleblall can be an intimidating place to find yourself on the pickleball court 😳 Susannah Barr explains why this is the "land of opportunity" and how to attack and reset balls in this area of the court!
Drilling at home on a backboard. A typical session is 20 minutes. I like to warm up on the backboard before a two hour drill session on a court.
NOTE: This is a test video. Playing around with YouTube Jazz/Blues music library files.
Session Activities and Focus
1) 3ft from Backboard. Soft volleys backhand/forehand. One handed. Two handed. Get into a rhythm. Loose grip. Loose wrist. Warm-up hand-eye coordination. Feel the ball hit the paddle a couple of hundred times.
2) Hit two-handed volleys backhand/forehand
3) 5ft from Backboard. Repeat above.
4) 7 ft from Backboard. Hit volleys. Dink two-handed forehand/backhand. In a closed stance, shift weight from back leg to front leg to hit the ball.
5) Don't watch the ball hit the backboard. Focus on the ball hitting the floor and the ball hitting the paddle. Move feet. Do the backhand/forehand dance.
6) Add side spin/top spin. Move the paddle low to high, right to left, left to right.
7) Focus on breathing
8) Hit the ball straight down the line over and over. (My line is between the freezer and oak TV stand) Keep a consistent pace going.
