Augie Ge, Rising Star of the PPA, Interview with Dave Fleming

  1. How did you end up getting paired with Tyra Black for mixed doubles?
  • Augie reached out to Tyra on Instagram when he saw she didn't have a partner anymore after some teams pulled out.

  1. What was going through your mind when you knew you were going to play Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters on center court in the semifinals?
  • Augie said there was a lot of adrenaline and they didn't have much time to get nervous. They were focused on playing point by point.

  1. Can you explain how being left-handed gives you an advantage on the court?
  • Augie said being left-handed closes the middle of the court more. It also provides a different look that opponents may not be as used to.

  1. You got a perfect 800 on the math SAT - how did you study and prepare for that?
  • Augie comes from a family of engineers and PhDs so he has an analytical/quantitative brain. But he also studied a fair amount specifically for the SAT.

  1. Where do you want your professional pickleball career to go from here?
  • Augie wants to keep improving to be the best player he can be. He loves competing and has loved racket sports from a very young age.
