Eight-year-old Lily Fudge

Eight-year-old Lily Fudge recently made history by becoming the youngest gold medalist in the history of the Association of Pickleball Professionals (APP). Lily, the daughter of pickleball pro Megan Fudge, secured her victory at the 2023 APP U.S. Indoor Championships in Illinois.

Despite initial nervousness from her mother, Lily displayed control in a close match with a final score of 10-12, 12-10, and 11-6. The Fudge family, including Lily's supportive brother JR, celebrated the historic win, and the children's interest in pickleball grew from watching their parents play.

Lily, who has been training seriously for about a year, is particularly inspired by top pickleball player Anna Leigh Waters. While the Fudges don't pressure their children to become professional players, they are excited to see Lily and JR's pickleball skills evolve, with Lily potentially joining her mom in doubles in the future.
